Abstract
The article presents information policies of the libraries of the Honorable Congress of the Mexican Union. It makes a diagnosis about its areas like services, collections, and human resources through interviews with those responsible for the libraries at their workplace. It asks whether in each of the areas: services, collection management and human resources selection if they have an information policy that indicates them how they should be carried out these activities. The instrument is a questionnaire elaborated based on IFLA’s Parliamentary Library Guidelines. It is a documental and field research. The sample studied are the three libraries that belong to the system. It compares what IFLA says about the guidelines the type of libraries ought to have, with the policies that were found in the documental and field research. The results obtained demonstrate that they do count with the explicit information policies at the macro, mezzo and micro levels. It is concluded that it is necessary that the responsible of the libraries elaborate, implement, evaluate, and improve information policies that help them to reach their objectives and goals.
