Abstract

The references on processes of creation, capture and management of documents in the General Law of Archives (LGA) of Mexico are analysed through a quantitative methodology of content analysis, which allows assessing, both in absolute and weighted form, the presence of six large process categories in the LGA: appraisal and disposition; conservation and preservation; organization and description; access and transparency; diffusion; and, finally, production and traceability of documents; as well as the approach under which each of the categories (activities, agents or elements) is treated. Through the methodology indicated, 347 references have been identified on the indicated categories, with a global weighted value of 301 points, most of which correspond to the categories of appraisal and disposition (29.40%); conservation and preservation (26.58%); organization and description (18.44%); and access and transparency (15.94%); while the remaining two categories have values below 6%. The analysis of the results allows us to conclude that in the LGA traditional archival processes are combined with more innovative processes, such as traceability, interoperability, information security or metadata management.
