Abstract
The following research on multivariate segmentation of public library personnel in Veracruz, Mexico, presents a diagnosis based on a sample of 162 librarians. The objective was to define groups to conduct eventual reading promotion training. For this objective, the participants responded about their reading and writing practices, their experience in reading promotion projects, their academic training for activity performance, and their opinion on the public library’s social purpose. Likewise, the social backwardness of the places where the libraries settled was considered. Data collection happened through a questionnaire application and analyzed with a univariate exploration and by applying a joint multivariate analysis of multiple correspondence and clusters. The results delineated the configuration of three well-differentiated groups, which provided relevant knowledge about this sector for training in reading promotion. This information can be used for library environment improvement plan designing.
