Abstract
A SURVEY OPINION IN A SAMPLE OF 101 UNDER GRADUATE STUDENTS (44 MALES AND 57 FEMALES) OF LIBRARY AND INFORMATION SCIENCE WAS MADE IN A PERUVIAN UNIVERSITY. ITS PURPOSE WAS TO IDENTIFY THE PATTERNS OF USE OF INTERNET ACCORDING TO THE GENDER OF THE PARTICIPANTS, AND TO ANALYZE YTHE PERCEPTION OF THEIR OWN PERFORMANCE RELATION TO THE TOOLS OFFERED TO THEM BY THE WEB. IN ORDER TO DOD THIS THE INSTRUMENTS DESIGNEDFOR FORDAND MILLER (1966) WAS ADAPTED. MAIN RESULTS ARE HERE LISTED:1) NO SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCES WERE FOUND BETWEEN MEN AND WOMWN AS TO PAT TERNS OF INTERNET US AGE. 2) ANALYSIS OF MAIN COMPONENTS (AMC) AL LOWED IDENTIFICATION OF FIVE BEHAVIOR IN INTERNET US AGE. THIS HELPED US TO DISTINGUISH THE WAY A USER APPROACHES INTERNET BASED ON HIS OR HER HANDLING CAPACITY AND THEIR PERCEIVED USEFULNESS OF THE INSTRUMENTS INTERNET PROVIDES. RESULTS ARE ALSO ANALYZED IN THE LIGHT OF PREVIOUS FINDINGS AND IMPLICATIONS ARE DISCUSSED FOR FUTURE STUDIESAuthors:
