Abstract
RESULTS OF A RESEARCH WHICH INTENDED TO ANALYSE THE ROLE PLAYED IN SOCIETY BY THE INFORMATION PROFESSIONAL. THE OBJECT OF STUDY WAS, AMONG OTHER THINGS, TO GET TO KNOW THE OCCUPATIONAL MOBILITY OF LIBRARIANS, AND TO IDENTIFY PERFORMANCE AREAS AS WELL TO DETEC THE RELATION THAT EXISTS BETWEEN WORK HISTORY AND OCCUPATIONAL MOBILITY. THE RESEARCH IS DESCRIPTIVE AND USES THE SURVEY METHOD. AMONG THE NUMEROUS CONCLUSIONS, THE FOLLOWING ARE INCLUDED: THERE ARE SCARCE OPPORTUNITIES IN SOCIETY FOR THESE TYPE OF PROFESSIONALS, AND THIS REVEALS NOT ONLY THE FACT THAT OUR SOCIETIES ASSIGN LITTLE IMPORTANCE TO INFORMATION, BUT TO INHERENT FACTORS OF THE PROFESSION WHOSE MEMBERS ARE STILL SUBMITTED TO FULFILL A SECONDARY ROLE.Authors:
