Abstract
THE PURPOSE OF THIS STUDY IS TO IDENTIFY THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE RESERCH ACTIVITY IN THE INFORMATION SCIENCE FINANCED BY THE CNPQ IN BRAZIL FROM 1984-1993. MAIN INSTITUTION OF RESEACH ARE IDENTIFIED AS WELL AS RESEAECHER'S PROFILE, AND MOST USED METHODOLOGICAL APPROACHES. SOME PROBLESMS WERE OBSERVED IN THE DEVELOPEDMET OF THIS REASEACH, SUCH AS THE REDUCED NUMBER OF RESEARCHS THAT RECEIVE FINANCING. FRAGMENATTION APPER AS A CHARACTERISTIC OF RESERCH IN THE AREA OF LIBRARY AND INFORMATION SCIENCE. FINANCED PROJECTS WERE SCATTERED NOT ONLY IN WIDE UNIVERSE OF INSTITUTIONS BUT ALSO INDIFFERENT THEMES OF SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH. RESULTS OBTAINED ARE COMPARED WITH SIMILAR STUDIES MADE ABROAD.Authors:
