Abstract
THE USER'S PROFILE IS THE KEY ELEMENT TO DESIGN INFORMATION SERVICES. IN ORDER TO OUTLINE USER'S PROFILES, THE SO CALLED USERS SURVEY PROCESS MUST BE CARRIED OUT. IN THIS PAPER, THE IMPORTANCE OF USER'S PROFILES IS EMPHASIZED AS THE STARTING POINT FOR THE PLANNING OF ANY INFORMATION SERVICE, UNIT, OR SYSTEM. THE CONCEPT OF INFORMATION USAGE IS INTRODUCED, AND THE INFORMATION NEEDS ARE DEFINED. IN THE NEXT SECTION, THE BACKGROUND AND MEANING OF THE USER'S PROFILE ARE DEALT WITH BY RELATING IT TO THE SURVEY OF USERS. FINALLY, RESEARCH TECHNIQUES TO DETERMINE USER'S PROFILE ARE DESCRIBED IN GENERAL TERMS, SO THAT THEY CAN BE USED BY THE LIBRARY COMMUNITY INTERESTED IN THIS TOPIC.Authors:
