Abstract

This research work seeks to know the emergence, behavior and satisfaction of the information needs of the students of the Doctorate in Educational Research of the Center for Educational Research (CIE) of the Autonomous University of Tlaxcala (UATX) in Mexico. The perception of artificial intelligence tools as an information resource in their academic activities is also included.
From a questionnaire, it was determined that this community has a multidisciplinary educational training profile. Their information needs are focused on writing theses and academic articles. Although they master other languages to search and select information in digital resources, they face access barriers when the options require payment; in addition, there are still cases of lack of knowledge about the functionalities of the repository platforms. Despite these drawbacks, their satisfaction is mainly positive.
Regarding their perception of artificial intelligence tools, it was identified that almost 75 % of the respondents are already aware of the existence of these applications. ChatGPT is the alternative with which they have become most familiar, and in general, they have a favorable opinion about the benefits it could offer in academic management and production.
